Using natural heartburn remedies instead of medicine is often a good choice. Medicine for heartburn is known to have many side-effects and if the medicine can be avoided or reduced it should…Antacids are one of the fastest and most effective heartburn treatments they enter the stomach and decrease and neutralize the acid thus protecting region around the esophagus. However keep in mind that these medicines are not permanent cure they merely prevent the stomach acid from entering the esophagus and that if used continuously these drugs can worsen the problem and cause other health problems like diarrhea and constipation kidney stones.
Many theories have been propounded in respect to the actual causes of peptic ulcer but none of them is conclusive. However the most acceptable one is that of Guyton which states that ”The usual cause of peptic ulceration is an imbalance between the rate of secretion of gastric juice and the degree of protection afforded by the gastro-duodenal mucosa barrier and the neutralization of the gastric acid by duodenal juices”. There is inability of the mucosa lining of the gastrointestinal tract to resist the digestive action of hydrochloric acid and pepsin as a result of the imbalance.

Question by Alexa: should she have surgery for her acid reflux?
my daughter is 16 years old and has several autoimmune disorders..but also acid reflux. we’ve had her on nexium/protonix for a year now and she has shown no sides of improvement. in fact it seems like she is getting worse. shes been nauseas everyday, and even vomits. she has difficulty swallowing, a hoarseness to her voice now, and is constantly clearing her throat/has a dry cough. im worried about the side effects of the medications she’s on and i dont want her to be on medication for her whole life. i heard about a GERD surgery and i’m wondering if you think this would be a smart decision since the medications are not really helping. i will speak to her doctor about this, but some opinions will be helpful.
thank you.
she recently had blood tests, and i believe her thyroid is being checked in there as well.
but her main autoimmune disorder is mixed connective tissue disease

Suffering from acid reflux disease does not only imply much discomfort but the need to know some acid reflux remedies might help one free themselves from such a situation. Although this disorder is not caused by any parasite nor it is directly deadly, this may somehow give one ample warning about ones food preference as well as what you do after a full meal.A number of discomforts are associated with this condition. This includes a burning sensation in the esophagus as if you will be throwing up anytime. The stingy feeling of acid slowly creeping into your food tube is a little unbearable and this is often coupled with a tickling sensation in your stomach. The bile taste that you can sense on your tongue also adds up to the unlikable feeling. The stabbing pain in the chest that radiates in almost all parts of your body is also another thing that is completely ugly about this condition. It’s as if you are being stabbed yet you can not see the source of the pain.Change Your DietSo just to escape from all these things there are two important measures to take: stop eating food items that may cause or trigger this condition, and/or find the cure for the unwanted attacks. There are two common forms of treatment for gastroesophageal reflux disease: pharmacological and natural. The former is not at all enticing to some patients especially that there is the introduction of chemicals to the system. The latter cure, the use of natural remedies is more attractive for a variety of reasons. The first is the fact that it uses all natural ingredients. Given the current trend on medication these days, a cure with natural origins appeals more to buyers than synthetic ones. Natural acid reflux remedies are often within one’s access. Most are also less expensive and thus more enticing especially among patients with a limited budget.
