Hello, my son is 7 months old, and since he was about 3 or 4 months old, he has had this problem with what I thought was vomitting. I took him several times to his pediatrician about this problem. It seems that, at random times, he will vomit at different times after he’s had a bottle, whether it be during a feeding or even a couple of hours after. A lot of times, he will wake from his sleep at night, crying, and then vomit. I’ve tried to explain how he vomits to his doctor, but he doesn’t seem to believe that he is vomitting, that he is just “spitting up”. When my son does it, it is quite forceful, even though some of it comes out of his nose (which was what led the doctor to believe that it wasn’t projectile vomitting). Apparently, he is otherwise in good health. The pediatrician could not find any other problems at all, so he came to the conclusion that it was acid reflux. Is that what it sounds like? Could it be anything else? Is there anything I can do to help ease his discomfort?
I should also mention that there is a lot of it — usually most of what he drank, so that he becomes hungry almost immediately afterwards. Thanks for your advice!
No, unfortunately, his doctor didn’t give any other information than that it could be reflux. I assumed that there was nothing else that I could do, since he is just a baby, but now I’m reading about some women who give their babies Mylanta and other things like that, so I don’t know. Thanks again for your suggestions!

This can be a very painful experience especially for the mother who at most times does not know what is ailing her infant. A doctor’s report can rule out Acid Reflux as the cause of your infant’s discomfort. The good news is the problem disappears after one year of age. The bad news is that it can actually affect your infant’s health.

Sitting up after eating doesn’t seem to help my son. I have taken him to the Dr. and she said to come back if he is spitting up excessively, which is why I went in the first place! I just don’t know what to do, he eats often, because he is hungry because he spits up so much. Eating less amounts, more frequently does not seem to help him either.
We are breastfeeding exclusively.
Yeah, he also spits up while breastfeeding, even if I have him tilted at an angle. Nothing conventional is helping. I don’t think he is having trouble gaining weight, because he is feeding so often because he throws most of it back up!

My grandson is almost 3 months old. He was a preemie and weighs about 9 lbs. He’s takes a bottle of 5 oz every 2-4 hours. It’s scary because sometimes he throws up-a lot, not just spit up. My daughter switched to soy formula but the vomiting continues. He gets really uncomfortable then just vomits. Is it possible for him to have Acid Reflux Disease? And if so, what can she do about it? Thanks!!!

my baby had surgery for pyloric stenosis and has continued to have projectile vomiting, yesterday she was diagnosed with acid reflux. Her doc told me that was why she has continued having projectile vomiting. Any ones baby has this problem? Do babies experience projectile vomiting when they suffer from reflux, or is the vomiting less severe?

When most of us think about heartburn we rarely consider acid reflux infants, but this condition (heartburn, acid reflux, gerd) is quite common in babies. In fact, more than half of all infants experience acid reflux within the first three months of their lives. The good news is that only a small number of infants experience the more serious symptoms.
Here are four things you should know about acid reflux infants:

What are symptoms of acid reflux in infants? My son spits up what I think is quite a bit, but my first never spit up so I don’t have much of a comparison. Is excessive spit up even a symptom?
