Acid reflux in babies occurs when stomach contents come back up to the esophagus. This takes place during or after a meal and is quite painful because of the acidity of the stomach contents and the amount of actual stomach acid that will be present in the throat. Did your baby have a lot of hiccups during pregnancy? My last son was born with GERD, he is now 3 and it seems he is finally gettting over it. He had hiccups often in my pregnancy. The first few years of his life were hard, im sure even more hard for him. I’m now 33 weeks pregnant and I’m starting to get nervous because I was told that frequent hiccups could mean my baby will have GERD. This baby boy inside of me gets them everyday and sometimes twice a day. Just wondering what everyone else has experienced during pregnancy, or could it just be coincidence. We will love this baby very much, but I am nervous to go through all this again. We’d be a little more prepared, than the first time, but I still pray everyday that he is born healthy.

Is spitting up always symptom? I had heard that acid reflux babies have projectile vomitting and spitting up.
My 3 mth old son is very fussy much of the day and will spit up, but no more than your average baby does. I’ve always just been assuming its colic, but I’ve tried all the popular colic remedies and nothing seems to help. So I’ve just been wondering if he could be having some reflux.
He was also born 6 weeks early…

Almost all new parents will have to deal with acid reflux in their baby at one time or another.
