should she have surgery for her acid reflux?

Question by Alexa: should she have surgery for her acid reflux?
my daughter is 16 years old and has several autoimmune disorders..but also acid reflux. we’ve had her on nexium/protonix for a year now and she has shown no sides of improvement. in fact it seems like she is getting worse. shes been nauseas everyday, and even vomits. she has difficulty swallowing, a hoarseness to her voice now, and is constantly clearing her throat/has a dry cough. im worried about the side effects of the medications she’s on and i dont want her to be on medication for her whole life. i heard about a GERD surgery and i’m wondering if you think this would be a smart decision since the medications are not really helping. i will speak to her doctor about this, but some opinions will be helpful.
thank you.
she recently had blood tests, and i believe her thyroid is being checked in there as well.
but her main autoimmune disorder is mixed connective tissue disease
