Heartburn or acid reflux is an avoidable disorder. The condition known as heartburn also called heartburn is a serious condition caused by the stomachs over production of acid that travels up into the esophagus and throat this condition is also known as acid reflux. Sometimes the condition can be medical related. Typically however acid reflux is caused by what we do to ourselves. In this article we will talk about some of the major acid reflux causes and what you can do to avoid them and stay comfortable.
Eating the wrong foods is the most common cause of acid reflux. When this is the cause, it is usually referred to as heartburn and is a temporary problem. If you get heartburn on a regular basis, you need to take a serious look at your food choices. How spicy is the food you eat? Are you eating chocolate often? Do you eat garlic in a lot of your foods? Foods containing tomatoes are also known to cause heartburn. While it may seem difficult to avoid these foods, it is actually easily done. While you may not like having to give up chocolate, it should be worth it to reduce your issues with heartburn.

Many people have symptoms of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, or GERD, often called acid reflux. This video shows how the esophagus works and how acid can splash into the esophagus because of a hiatal hernia or weakness of the valve called the lower esophageal sphincter. Mayo Clinic has a very large team with an international reputation for its skill in diagnosing and treating reflux, Barretts esophagus and esophagus cancer. What else could it possibly be? I took an upper GI tract test of some sort before I was diagnosed, and I really cant believe that the test was not accurate… I recently did a C UREA breath test, and Ill have the results to that test in about a week now. Im just wondering what I can expect. Ive spent the past few hours trying to find answers online, but I find nothing else.
Gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD) often has two major symptoms which are easily diagnosed by any competent medical professional. The major culprits are heartburn and acid flowing back into the mouth or throat.
Heartburn is often described as a burning feeling in the chest gravitating from the stomach.
I have been taking Prilosec OTC (Proton Pump Inhibitors) for a year and 4 months to treat symptoms of acid reflux. I ingest one (1) 20mg dose daily to treat symptoms including sore throat and burning sensation in throat. Over the last few weeks, I have been encountering additional symptoms that include chronic cough, throat irritation, and Laryngospasm (feeling like one can’t catch one’s breath), and Continual Throat Clearing. I have researched these symptoms and concluded that I may have laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR). Do to this I have a series of question to ask below for assistance:
•Are there any long term effects of taking Prilosec OTC? I have researched and discovered they may cause osteoporosis in the future. I take calcium citrate to attempt to offset signs of osteoporosis. Is this the correct thing to do? Is there any other long term effects? (i.e.cancer etc.)
•Are there any home remedies (things I can do) to completely cure Acid reflux and laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR)? Currently I am unemployed and do not have any medical insurance so if there is anything I can do at home or buy over the counter to relieve this it would be a great help.
•Would this problem require me to have any type of surgery if left untreated for an extended period of time? (can this be fixed without surgery) How long would this have to linger to force surgery?
•I have not been having a great diet I eat what I want and drink alcohol (once a week) so this might be the root of all this but over time I don’t want to get really sick from this.
•Is acid reflux common?
•Anything else you can tell me to prevent this from getting serious or requiring surgery.
Thank you for your time.
The body has wonderful way of curing itself. And when it receives healthy input it does an even better job. Some of the results of this aren’t apparent until later on in life. While the cure for heartburn and osteoporosis are both well known topics there might not seem at first glance to be any connection between the two..

I have been having really bad heartburn lately. I’m almost positive that I have Acid Reflux because I have all the symptoms listed on Webmd such as burning or pain in the chest, feeling as if though you have food or something caught in your throat etc. I’m trying to make an appointment with my doctor today to hopefully get some meds to give me some relief. What I am wondering is, who else has Acid Reflux, how did your doctor diagnose it, what meds did they give you and most importantly did it really make a significant difference? The most annoying symptom is the feeling like you have food stuck in your throught thing, I’m so sick of heartburn, I just want some relief!
ick, I totally misspelled throat up there! I have taken the prilosec otc, while it has helped some, it hasn’t done enough.
I have had Gastroesophogeal reflux since 2006 and my G.I. doctor gave me a list of what I shouldn’t eat. I used to have it really badly and was on like 20 different medications like muscle relaxers (which is a new treatment for GERD) and really strong acid reducers. I stopped taking them around November and I don’t go to the doctors because Ihaven’t gotten sick like my mother (who is a nurse) said I would from not taking my medicine. My mom also stopped taking me to the doctor because she said it would be stupid to do so since I don’t take my medicine. Any suggestions on the food?
